NARENDRA DAMODARDAS MODI: CURRENT PRIME MINISTER OF INDIA
Narendra damodardas Modi is an Indian politician who is serving the nation since a very long time. He was the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014. At present, he is working as the 14th and the current Prime Minister of India. Along with, he is the Member of Parliament for Varanasi, member of the Bharatiya Janta Party(BJP) and a member of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh(RSS).
Modi was born in a Gujarati family in Vadnagar. In his childhood, he helped his father in his tea stall and later had his own tea stall. He left home after graduation as a consequence of his arranged marriage. He travelled to a number of religious centres for a tenure of two years and consequently settled in Ahmedabad.
Narendra Damodardas Modi was appointed as the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001. His policies as a Chief Minister were fair enough to encourage economic growth of the state. However, his administration was criticised on the grounds of health, poverty and education. In the 2014 general election, BJP had a majority in the Lok Sabha. Modi was elected as a member of parliament from Varanasi. Modi had worked to raise foreign direct investment(FDI), infrastructure, improving efficiency in the bureaucracy and centralisation of power. He had also focused on sanitation campaigns.
Modi became the Prime Minister of India on 26th may 2014. His first cabinet consisted of 45 ministers.
Modi had introduced a number of policies in his working tenure of 3 year. It has changed the economic face of India drastically. Few policies or decisions introduced in Modi’s rule.
Jan Dhan Yojana
Under this yojana, anyone can open a bank account. A fortnight after the launch, this yojana entered the Guiness Book of World Record for having the maximum number of accounts opened in a week.
LPG Subsidy Reforms
The scheme implemented a LPG subsidy on customers who earn more than Rs. 10 Lakh per annum. The amount thus saved was used to give over five lakh new LPG connections.
Swachh Bharat Mission
This mission was an initiative for improving the sanitation, managing the waste and creating sanitation awareness among the citizens. The mission got a wide response of social media, celebrities and public.
India-Bangladesh Land Boundary Agreement: This agreement ensures that issues can be solved instead of having any diplomacy.
Mann Ki Baat
An initiative where a top leader is present to hear its citizens. In addition to this, proper response is also generated by the PM.
Digital India: Every minister along with their ministries in now on twitter and other social networking sites.
The GST bill was in rajya sabha since past 2 years. It came into existence in Modi’s rule.
